Panel talks: The new nuclear disorder

The Swedish Defence University brings together a range of experts from universities, think tanks, and research institutes to discuss the implications of our new nuclear disorder and the lessons we can learn from our previous experience with humanity’s most destructive weaponry.
Amidst ratcheting geopolitical instability, the issue of nuclear weapons is at its highest on the global security agenda since the end of the Cold War. Existing nuclear powers are engaged in a comprehensive modernisation of their arsenals while the risk of proliferation to new actors is as great as ever.
Almost inconceivable a few months ago, the American nuclear umbrella protecting Europe for 80 years no longer seems assured, prompting national governments to envisage measures they scarcely contemplated until now.
