Russian tactical learning

The research project examines tactical lessons that Russia has learned from its involvement in conflicts in Syria, Ukraine, Georgia, Chechnya and Afghanistan, among others.

In recent decades, Russian forces have been involved in a large number of major and minor conflicts, including in Syria, Ukraine, Georgia, Chechnya and Afghanistan, which have given them experience of acting in sharp situations.

Experiences of conflicts affect on Russian tactical development

The research project examines tactical lessons that Russia has learned from these conflicts. How have Russian experiences of conflicts affected Russian tactical development? Among other things, tactical lessons that have been discussed in public sources and translated into tactical manuals are studied, as well as Russian analyzes of war experiences.

The goal is to shed light on Russian tactical development and tactical learning ability.
