Axel-Charles Monin Nylund is a doctoral student at the Swedish Defence University's Department of War Studies and a Sergeant First Class (Översergeant) in the Swedish Armed Forces reserve with extensive international experience, including service in MINUSMA as a military interpreter and political advisor to the United Nations Force Commander. Drawing on his firsthand involvement in Malian ceasefire and DDR negotiations, he coauthored a book on military peacekeeping mediation in Mali with Lieutenant General Dennis Gyllensporre.

He holds an LLB from Queen Mary, University of London, and an MA in International Affairs (Cyber Security) from the Defence Studies Department at King's College London. Before joining the Swedish Defence University's War Studies Department, he worked as a Research Assistant in the Department of Political Science.

His current research explores the intersection of artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, focusing on AI-based cyber defences, national sovereignty issues, and the technology stack underpinning AI applications. This work aims to map the constellation of actors involved in developing and deploying AI technologies to understand their implications for national and global security.
