The collection of rare materials
The library has a unique collection in military history. The collection consists of material from the Army Staff, the Naval Staff and the Royal Swedish Army Staff. Artillery Regiment Collection.
The Tånga hed Collection
Kongl. The artillery regiment's collection, the so-called Tånga hed collection, consists of about 400 volumes as well as about 50 manuscripts and folders with drawings, watercolours and photographs. The oldest book in the collection dates from 1588. The material is mainly from the 1600s, 1700s and 1800s and covers topics such as artillery, fortification, war history and natural sciences.
Staff collection
The older collections of the Army Staff and the Naval Staff also contain rare material. The collection mainly includes topics such as naval warfare history, shipbuilding and navigation.
Storage and availability
From 2017 to 2018, work was carried out on inventory and care planning of the collection of rare materials. The collection is stored in closed premises, but most of the material can be ordered and studied as a reading room loan.
The Tånga hed collection is searchable in our search tool Primo and in the national library catalogue LIBRIS.
The staff collection's approximately 400 works are partially searchable in LIBRIS, but the majority are only searchable in the library's printed card catalogue.
