Honorary doctor
The Swedish Defence University appoints honorary doctors to honour people who have made significant contributions to society within the Swedish Defence University's area of activity.
Honorary doctorates at the Swedish Defence University can be awarded to both Swedish and foreign individuals who have made outstanding contributions to science, to society in a broad sense, or to the Swedish Defence University and our activities. The operations must have a clear link to our area of activity: defence, crisis management and security. Honorary doctorates can be awarded to both academics and people who have merited themselves in a way other than scientific.
An honorary doctorate cannot be awarded to a person in the same year as the person in question receives the Swedish Defence University's Medal of Merit, and also nor for the same accomplishment.
Honorary doctorates are conferred at the Swedish Defence University's Academic Ceremony where they receive the university's insignia.
