Doctoral student handbook
Doctoral studies mean that, under supervision, you devote yourself to a research project that leads to a doctoral degree. The doctoral program includes courses and the writing of a doctoral thesis. The programme lasts four years and is regulated in an individual study plan.
The Swedish Defence University conducts doctoral education in the field of Defence, Crisis Management and Security.
There are four doctoral subjects: War Studies, Political Science with a specialisation in Crisis Management and Security, Military History and Leadership and Command & Control.

The handbook for doctoral students briefly describes the requirements and rules that govern doctoral education, i.e. what applies when applying for a place on doctoral education as well as the rules that govern the time spent as a doctoral student.
