PhD student survey 2022
The Swedish Defence University's doctoral students are generally satisfied with their supervisors and nine out of ten would choose to start their doctoral studies if the choice were made today. At the same time, 54 per cent of doctoral students have experienced pressure or stress that has resulted in negative experiences to a high or very high extent. This is shown by the results of the doctoral student survey conducted from December 2021 to February 2022.
Brief information about the division in the report
The answers are in tables and diagrams divided into three groups:
Dr. Prog is equal to the Doctoral Program in War Studies, Leadership and Command & Controll, and System Science for Defence Security.
dr. prog S is equal to the doctoral program in political science
Other things include project doctoral students, industry-employed doctoral students, doctoral students whose time in the doctoral program has ended (in some cases several years ago) but who have not yet defended their thesis and are still at the university, as well as some doctoral students who are admitted to other universities but do not have a doctoral studentship but another position at SEDU (and have never been part of the SEDU doctoral program). Of course, we don't know which of these responded.
However, the groups are so small that it is difficult to compare them. The discussion in the report concerns the whole group.
The distribution of responses between men (20 people) and women (6 people) makes it difficult to draw any more far-reaching conclusions about differences between these groups as well.
